WHO WE ARE

ATeN Center – The Advanced Technologies Network Center – is one of the few research and development centers on the world able to offer from material synthesis to in vivo testing in the field of biotechnologies applied to human health.

Biologists, biotechnologists, chemists, physicians, engineers, doctors and computer scientists work in synergy to generate and transfer high-quality knowledge to competing products for the domestic and international market. ATeN Center provides support to research, innovation and technological development both in the public and private sectors.

By 23 certified laboratories, equipped with about a hundred scientific equipment and located on more than 2,500 square meters of surface area, the Center aim to be a reference point for new design ideas and technology transfer activities for Researchers and Companies in the Sicily Region and the Mediterranean area.

The Center was launched in 2016 by the University of Palermo, thanks to funding for the actions of PON R & C, Infrastructures (Project PONa3_00273) and PO FESR, Sicily-Measure 4.1.2.A, for a total of About 30 ML €.

The ATeN Center, led by Prof. Maurizio Leone, is organized into two hubs: the CHAB (Mediterranean Center for Human Health Advanced Biotechnologies), Scientific manager Prof. Giulio Ghersi and CGA (Advanced Technologies), Scientific manager Prof. Eugenio Caponetti.
The arrangement of its laboratories in a single modern structure facilitates close synergy between the different scientific areas and research techniques. ATeN Center therefore overcomes the limits of expertise and equipment that Researchers and companies have so far taken to improve their innovation and technological development activities and will contribute to their competitiveness in Europe and their attractiveness to the entire Mediterranean area.

Finally, ATeN Center offers training activities both for technical staff of companies and young researchers, working in close contact with the Departments of the University of Palermo.
